Astro Gator Number 30
Dated 5/6/03. We learn a little about Astro Gator’s past, and we’re building up to the revelation about who has been trying to kill him.
Okay, yes I am aware that there is no such thing as Florida University in Gainesville. I decided not to use a real location, and I can’t remember why. Maybe I was worried that a real school might come after me for copyright violation. That doesn’t seem reasonable to me now, but the image on Astro Gator’s college helmet might have earned me some unwanted attention. It is based on several different real school logos, but it is unique, and there is a strong case for fair use anyway.
Maybe I just didn’t want to give any real school recognition. I have always been a little disdainful of higher education, especially the big flagship universities. For all of their hogwash about education and research and tradition, they’ve really only ever been about football. And maybe basketball. My time spent at those schools only magnified my disdain.
